Biography
Shamarr Allen grew up in New Orleans steeped in the city's jazz and brass band traditions, learning trumpet from an early age. But Allen's musical world has always extended beyond jazz — he grew up listening to hip-hop, R&B, and funk, and his recordings blend trumpet improvisation with rap verses, funky grooves, and contemporary production in ways that feel natural rather than forced. He has collaborated with Trombone Shorty, Kermit Ruffins, Irvin Mayfield, and Rebirth Brass Band.
